Setup Screens
Every screen in the KeepKey desktop setup wizard has a companion page here with the full explanation that wouldn’t fit in the app.
These URLs are permanent. The desktop application links to them directly, and they will not move.
Before setup — the three intro cards
Shown once, right after your device is detected, before the wallet is created.
| Screen in the app | Docs page |
|---|---|
| Your PIN is Scrambled | /docs/desktop/setup/pin-scrambled |
| Your Words = Your Wallet | /docs/desktop/setup/recovery-words |
| Scrambled Recovery Entry | /docs/desktop/setup/cipher-recovery |
Wallet creation
The actual setup. Everything from here writes to the device.
| Screen in the app | Docs page |
|---|---|
| Set Up Your Wallet (create / recover, seed length) | /docs/desktop/setup/create-or-recover |
| Creating Wallet… / Recovering Wallet… | /docs/desktop/setup/creating-wallet |
| Wallet Created! — Name your device | /docs/desktop/setup/device-name |
| Verify Your Recovery Phrase | /docs/desktop/setup/verify-backup |
Seed length and entropy are covered in the create-or-recover page: Seed length and entropy.
After setup — the three tips cards
Shown once, after the wallet exists, before you land in the portfolio.
| Screen in the app | Docs page |
|---|---|
| Trust Your Device Screen | /docs/desktop/setup/device-screen |
| App Connections Are Off | /docs/desktop/setup/app-connections |
| Hidden Wallets (Advanced) | /docs/desktop/setup/hidden-wallets |
Firmware and bootloader
If your device shipped with factory firmware, the wizard runs a bootloader and firmware update before any of the above. That flow is documented separately in Firmware Updates.
Skipping
The three intro cards and the first two tips cards can be skipped. Hidden Wallets cannot — it carries the passphrase opt-in, and skipping the earlier tips routes you straight to it. You have to make a choice (on or off) before the wizard finishes. Either choice is reversible later in Settings.
Verification of your recovery phrase can also be deferred with Skip — I’ll verify later, but see Verify Your Recovery Phrase for why deferring it is a bad trade.
