# Real-world guides

The rest of these docs explain each screen. These guides start from a situation instead — the transfer you actually need to make — and walk through it end to end, including the mistakes and scams that show up in real life.

## One habit for every transfer: Source → Label → Device

Most losses come down to sending to an address that *looked* right. Three checks, every time you move money:

1. **Source.** Take the address from where it really comes from — the exchange's deposit page, the receiver's own KeepKey screen, your [Address Book](/docs/desktop/address-book). Never from your transaction history, an old chat, or a search result.
2. **Label.** When KeepKey Desktop recognises a saved address it shows its Address Book label next to the recipient. Expected "Alice — BTC" and see no label, or a "new address" prompt? Stop.
3. **Device.** Read the **whole** address on the KeepKey screen before you approve — the start, the middle and the end. Your computer draws the app; it does not draw the KeepKey screen.
